Weird life skills
Mar. 2nd, 2019 12:36 pmI find myself frequently grateful that in classical ballet you're basically never allowed to put a hand on the floor, which means that if you sit in choreography or fall by accident you have to roll elegantly to standing without the use of your arms. Why does this matter to me, six years after my career ended? Well, pushing on my arms without thinking can easily dislocate a shoulder, rib, or elbow. So thanks to this habit, if i'm getting out of bed or off the floor, I automatically do it in a safe way.
This was also fun in ACL repair recovery, because sitting and standing with only one leg is more complicated than you'd assume.
